We make the following assumptions for calculating your house affordability. Down-payment should constitute at least 20% of the house value. Mortgage duration is 30 years. Total monthly payment towards house purchase cannot be higher than 80% of your post-tax income. Savings on kids education is assumed to be $15,000 per year per kid.
